Herman Miller’s Flo monitor arm will receive the 2010 “Red Dot” award for product design. The 36 experts examined 4,433 products over several days. The competition saw an increase in the submissions for the IT industry, telecommunications and consumer electronics. Considered by many to be the largest, most distinguished international design competition, receiving the award is an absolute honor!
“Good design cannot be overestimated for business success,” explains Dr. Peter Zec, initiator and president of the competition. “It is the obvious and appealing design of a product that creates a direct, intuitive connection with the consumer. But design can do much more: It links the user to the product and the brand alike; it creates confidence in quality performances; and in the best of cases, it demonstrates the responsibility of the manufacturer towards his clients, the environment, and all those involved in the production process. Only those who design their products in an exemplary way will be awarded in the red dot design award and can refer to this outstanding distinction with justified pride.”
Flo is a centerpiece of Herman Miller’s Thrive Portfolio – a portfolio of ergonomic tools. The “Red Dot” award is in good company as Flo earned 2010 Best of NeoCon award in Technology Support and 2010 National Ergonomics Conference and Exposition “Attendee’s Choice Award.”
