As we await the launch of the new Herman Miller SAYL task chair, we’re interested in all things Yves Behar – the chair’s Designer.  If you’re a follower of our blog, you have already learned about Fuseproject.  We love their “See Better to Learn Better” project which they embarked upon with the Mexican government and Augen Optics.

Research was done and it determined that there was a learning gap amongst Mexican children because they would not wear glasses.  The perception was glasses-wearing = handicap.  Well, enter Fuseproject.

Extreme Flexibility for School and Play

They created fully customizable glasses and worked with the schools to encourage the students to design their own unique frame.  The glasses are made out of hyper- flexible and durable materials (advanced Gilamid plastic).  Free eye exams were administered, and the glasses were handed out.

“With Collección Escolar 2010, each pair is designed for students and created by students, this we believe will make students See Better and Learn Better.” – Fusrproject
